My condolences to the entire Moores family. Your mom was a very special lady. Throughout most of my teenage years your home was my second home and your mom, “Nellie”, was my second Mom. She was always kind, always smiling and she put up with having a dozen kids in her home most weekends. I’m sure part of the reason we all congregated there was because of the kindness she emanated - you felt better just for being around her. Her place in Heaven was reserved a long, long time ago. I miss you all - stay strong.

My entire life I thought Nellie was an actual angel on earth. Her natural love for people radiated beyond the humble home in which she raised 6 children. Her love for humans was genuine and her intrigue and acceptance for people was clearly evident in her smile. She gave without expectation of return or reward. A symbol of peace and love to her family, extended family, their friends and the people gone lost before there was a diagnosis for Alzheimer’s. She treated and cared for many people and comforted families through a brutal disease without training using natural compassion. She should be recognized for her contribution to this world or at the very least the town and the people she loved. She may have come from the rock, but she was a distinct Petawawa personality. I am a much better person for have known her.

Dear Family and Friends of Nellie Moores
In the late 1980's Nellie and her sister Betty worked with me at the Red Cross Homemakers located in Pembroke. Nellie was a much requested Home Maker in the Petawawa area. Her clients loved her and she was always willing to help out new clients in the area. Nellie was such a requested employee by clients that her work load had to be adjusted to only week days and within the Petawawa area. She was a lovely lady and always had a wonderful smile. Her ability to make clients comfortable in their own home was a skill Nellie possessed and her skill in the kitchen was a talent that came to her naturally. She was fun loving and she always had a kind word for all who knew her. It was my pleasure to work with Nellie during those years in Pembroke.
My deepest sympathy to Betty and Nellie's family and friends.
