Obituary

MARSDEN, Penny - It is with great sadness the Marsden family announces the passing of Penny Marsden at the age of 71. Penny passed peacefully Sunday August 11, 2019 under the loving care of Marianhill nursing staff. Penny’s two great loves in life were children and music. She spent much of her life enjoying and caring for the children of others in her role as the best babysitter on Isabella Street. She also enjoyed teaching children the piano and music for many years. Penny participated in the Community choir and was most proud of her role in playing the organ at Holy Name Church for many years. Penny was the daughter of the late Michael and Patricia Marsden. She is survived by her brothers Michael and Christopher, and sisters Linda Greenslade, Madeline Grant, and Patricia (Patsy) Thompson. Predeceased by sister Lorna Hughes. My deepest sympathy to Penny family during this very sad and difficult time.
During the years 1985 to 1991 I worked with the Canadian Red Cross Homemakers situated in Pembroke. I was a Homemaker Supervisor at this time and Penny was a homemaker who worked in the Pembroke and Petawawa area.
Penny had many seniors she visited during the time I was with the Homemaker program. My husband was transferred to Kingston around 1991 and we left the area.
Penny was very much liked by all the clients she visited during her time with the Red Cross. She always had a smile and a kind word to offer during a clients visit. She was liked by all her co-workers and management staff.
Penny was very proud of her accomplishment following her graduation of the Home Support Workers course offered at Algonquin College during the late 1980's.
I was very sad to learn of Penny's passing.
Kind Regards to her family and friends.

I was saddened to hear that Penny past away and had been ill prior to. I am so upset that I missed her wake and funeral celebration as well as a time to see her family siblings...it’s been a while. From the bottom of my heart My Sincere Sympathy to you all, in the loss of your sister. Please remember when you are back in the Pembroke Area to call / get in touch, as it would be very nice to see you. Simone

I was very sad to hear of Penny’s death. She was a friend from elementary school at Holy Name and often attended my childhood birthday parties. She was a kind and gentle soul who will be missed by all who knew her.

Penny was one of the kindest people in dealing with kids and seniors. She looked after my mother while she was in carefor.. Not sure how I met her but she may have worked at giant tiger at some point. Always remember her kind smile and conversations when she was shopping in giant tiger. Rest In Peace from Jim and Linda Sylvestre

To Penny's family, who I remember quite well I am sorry for your loss. I enjoyed Penny's commitment to her love of piano as she played for the Holy Name church. She was a dedicated soul and we talked often about her love of children and music and the Community choir. She was always with a smile and gentle. You all must have many great memories of her which will help you through the grieving you must go through at this very sad time. RIP Penny I will always remember your smile.
